"Women, Hispanics and African-Americans in the U.S. have higher stroke risks and lower recognition of stroke warning signs compared to any other population.
Some risk factors for stroke, such as genetics or family history cannot be controlled. Other risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes can go unrecognized and untreated.
